伊舎堂の集落は、かつて中城城趾の近くにあり、現在の地に移住するときに最初に移り住んだ3組の夫婦が、無事に移住できたことを記念して植栽したと言われている。現存するガジュマルは戦後植え替えたもので、3代目であるが、3本仲良く並んでいる姿はとても印象的である。
The Ishadou settlement used to be located close to the site of Nakagusuku Castle. It is said the first three married couples who migrated to the current Ishadou settlement planted three gajumaru to commemorate their safe migration. Though the current trees were planted for the third time after the war, the appearance of three trees lined together in friendship still leaves a strong impression.
