フパルシ　（ Fuparushi）

  今泊公民館前に生育しており、前面の道路は元馬場で、古くは競馬が行われ、緑陰の元に人々が集まり、憩いの場となっていた他、豊年祭が行われるなど、字の重要行事が行われ、地域から親しまれてきた。戦前は当樹木の根元に接して大きく傾くもう１本のコバテイシが立っており、これを「ウー（雄）フパルシ」、現存するものを「ミー（雌）フパルシ」と呼んでいた。
当樹木は同種の中では最大のものと推定されている。また、この木に掛けて次の歌が歌われている。 

 

 

　　「親泊のくふあでさや 枝持ちのちゅらしさやわやくみの妻の 身持ち美らしさや」

 

Fuparushi grows by the road in front of the Imadomari Community Center, which used to be a hippodrome, and where horseraces used to take place. People would gather under its leafy shade and this land was used as a resting place. It was well-known in the area as a spot for festivities held to pray for abundant years, and other important village activities. Before World War II, attached to the base of this tree was another large, heavily slanted tropical almond tree. They called it the “Uu (male) Fuparushi,” and the current tree the “Mii (female) Fuparushi.”

This tree is presumed to be the largest of its kind. Also, the following song is sung about it.

“The beauty of the branches of the tropical almond tree at Oyadomari, is like the beauty of my beloved wife’s heart.”
